FTP Procedure for Mac Users (Mac OS 6 or greater)
  1. You must have a FTP Client software installed on your computer before you can do this.

  2. Client softwares like Fetch 4.0 can be downloaded at ftp://mac.nacs.uci.edu/NACS%20Mac%20Archive/Distribution/Fetch/ The needed license information can be found in an accompaning file ( Fetch 4.0 UCI Registration.txt). or, visit http://oacmac.oac.uci.edu/archive/index.html for instructions.
  3. Please install this before continuing.
  4. Pull down the menu for CUSTOMIZE --> NEW SHORTCUT. You will see a dialogue box.
  5. After NAME, Put DNACORE
  6. After TYPE , select FOLDER
  7. After HOST, put DNACORE.BIOCHEM.UCI.EDU port# where port# and EDU is separated by space. Your port# is assigned to you via email.
  8. After USER ID, type in your username
  9. After PASSWORD, type in your password
  10. Leave DIRECOTRY blank.
  11. Click OK
  12. Now Go to FILE - > OPEN SHORTCUTS - > DNACORE
  13. A window should appear and your sequence files (both traces & text) should be in there.
  14. Makesure transfer method is "Binary". Drag and Drop your sequences to your local computer.
  15. Close Connection by clicking FILE- > CLOSE
  16. Quit Fetch by clicking FILE - > QUIT
