FTP Procedure for Mac Users (Mac OS 6 or greater)
- You must have a FTP Client software installed on your computer before you can do this.
- Client softwares like Fetch 4.0 can be downloaded at ftp://mac.nacs.uci.edu/NACS%20Mac%20Archive/Distribution/Fetch/ The needed license information can be found in an accompaning file ( Fetch 4.0 UCI Registration.txt). or, visit http://oacmac.oac.uci.edu/archive/index.html for instructions.
- Please install this before continuing.
- Pull down the menu for CUSTOMIZE --> NEW SHORTCUT. You will see a dialogue box.
- After NAME, Put DNACORE
- After TYPE
, select FOLDER
- After HOST, put DNACORE.BIOCHEM.UCI.EDU port# where port# and EDU is separated
by space. Your port# is assigned to you via email.
- After USER ID, type in your username
- After PASSWORD, type in your password
- Leave DIRECOTRY blank.
- Click OK
- Now Go to FILE - > OPEN SHORTCUTS - > DNACORE
- A window should appear and your sequence files (both traces & text) should be in there.
- Makesure transfer method is "Binary". Drag and Drop your sequences to your local computer.
- Close Connection by clicking FILE- > CLOSE
- Quit Fetch by clicking FILE - > QUIT
